GENERAL INFORMATION AND LOCATION
Frazier Elementary School
is located in Rhea County, near Dayton,
TN. Dayton is approximately 35 miles north of Chattanooga, TN. on
State Highway 27 North. See the map
for the exact location. Dayton is known for the annual East Tennessee
Strawberry Festival and for it's links to the Scope Evolution Trial, which
occurred in 1925. Rhea County is bordered on the east by the Tennessee
River and on the west by part of the beautiful Appalachian Mountain chain.
Rhea County is home to 25,000 people. Some of our biggest employers
include La-Z-Boy Furniture and Robinson's
Manufacturing. We would like to thank these business for all
of their help to make our school the greatest. We would also like
to thank Taco Bell for all of their
valiable assistance. Thanks for stopping by.
School Demographics:
Frazier Elementary School is a rural elementary
school which encompasses grades Kindergarten through fifth. We have 310
students who come from varied socioeconomic backgrounds. Our building is
16 years old; it was built to combine the old school with Washington School.
Special Services:
Our school no longer qualifies to offer Chapter
I programs due to the low percentage of students who qualify for the free
and reduced lunch program. We do offer speech and special education services.
Technology
Through the cooperation of our P.T.O., adopt-a-school
sponsor (Robinson Manufacturing) and our system technology coordinator,
we now have one Apple Macintosh computer in every classroom. There are
also several older IBM computers in many classrooms. This year we were
connected to the internet, and we now have web access as well as e-mail
capability. We are in the process of building a twenty-first century classroom
for all of our teachers through a cooperative effort of all resources.
We currently have two classrooms with the complete State provided twenty-first
century classroom equipment.
Computers and Curriculum:
Our teachers select software which supports and
extends the curriculum. This year we initiated the Accelerated Reader Program
as part of our focus on making students better readers. The ARP is available
for grades K-6 on the Macintosh platform.
Adopt-A-School Sponsors:
This year our adopt-a-school sponsors are Robinson
Manufacturing, Vulcan Materials, and Taco Bell. Without the support of
these sponsors, we could not do all that we do for our students. We are
very appreciative of their support.
School Incentives
We believe that students deserve to be rewarded
for their efforts. Students who maintain a B average or higher are
rewarded with a Frazier Bear T-Shirt at the end of the first semester and
shorts at the end of the second semester; these are provided by Robinson
Manufacturing. Students with perfect attendance receive a Taco Bell coupon
each six weeks that they have perfect attendance. Perfect attendance lists
are also posted on the front hall bulletin board at the end of each six
weeks. Students who made the honor roll are rewarded with a Frazier Bear
bumper sticker. Honor roll lists are posted at the end of each six weeks
on the front hall bulletin board and the local newspaper. Teachers also
provide a variety of incentives for their students within their own classrooms.
Specials:
Our curriculum now provides art, music, physical
education, and library classes for all students. Students in grades 5-6
may particiapate in instrumental band. Guidance Services are offered three
days each week.
